By Ed White Associated Press ALGER, Mich. — Eight people were charged Tuesday in the death of a Michigan prison inmate who lost 50 pounds over two weeks and died of dehydration while being restrained in 2019. The death of Jonathan Lancaster at the Alger prison in the Upper Peninsula was a “preventable tragedy that played out over days,” Attorney General Dana Nessel said.

Trenary man sentenced in Alger County on CSC charges after $1M bond, takes plea
ALGER COUNTY, Mich. (WLUC) - A Trenary man was sentenced Monday for criminal sexual conduct charges after receiving a $1 million bond last year. According to court documents, Cord Karvinen, 39, was sentenced in Alger County Circuit Court Monday to 7-15 years in prison for three third-degree CSC charges.
